15-year-old arrested; stole 8 guns from family member, police say

Lee Herald Favicon 16A cache of firearms remains missing after a 15-year old Cape Coral teen was arrested for allegedly stealing eight firearms from a grandparent on Wednesday.

According to the Cape Coral Police Department, on Wednesday, officers responded 1311 SE 23rd St due to reports of firearms being stolen. The victim told investigators that eight different handguns, two semi automatics and six revolvers, had been stolen from his bedroom.  After an investigations, Cape PD said that detectives determined that the man’s 15-year old granddaughter, who lived in the home, was responsible for the theft. Lee Herald does not publish the names of minors who have been charged with a crime.

The teen was charged with eight counts of grand theft of a firearm and transferred to the juvenile assessment center. At this time the firearms have still not been located or recovered. The investigation is ongoing.
