Man arrested for ramming, shooting at Uber

Lee Herald Favicon 16A Marco Island man has been accused of ramming into and shooting at an Uber his girlfriend was leaving in after they had a fight on Thursday,

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call about shot being fired near San Carlos Boulevard and Summerlin Road on Thursday. LCSO said that after an investigation, detectives found that 46-year old Yusuf Akkoc of Marco Island had been with his girlfriend when he became angry and pulled out a gun, firing founds out the window. Akkoc’s girlfriend called an Uber to come and pick her up, but when she entered the vehicle he become even more aggressive.

The suspect allegedly rammed his vehicle into the side of the Uber, causing the driver to flee. Akkoc decided to pursue the Uber, and allegedly fired several rounds at the vehicle, one of which struck the back window. The suspect was arrested and charged with aggravated battery, firing a deadly missile into a vehicle, and discharging a firearm from a vehicle. Akkoc was booked at the Lee County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on November 5.
