Home watch experts from across the United States and Canada will gather Southwest Florida for the inaugural International Home Watch Alliance conference early November.

“This is the first conference of its kind for Home Watch business owners and allied professionals who serve seasonal homeowners,” says Diane Pisani, co-founder of the nonprofit International Home Watch Alliance. “Home Watch is one of the fastest-growing professions in Southwest Florida and the alliance is the leader in advocacy, professional development and ethics.”

With years of first-hand experience, Pisani is the co-founder of the International Home Watch Alliance, a professional organization created to establish standards in an unregulated industry. Pisani, a Home Watch educator and advocate, has trained more than 500 Home Watch professionals and is the author of The Ultimate Home Watch Interview Guide.

“Florida won’t let a barber cut your hair without a license, but the Home Watch profession is completely unregulated,” Pisani said. “Members of the International Home Watch Alliance adhere to ethical and professional guidelines that give consumers confidence that they’re hiring the best Certified Home Watch Reporters.”

The conference will include presentations by leading Home Watch authorities in areas such as sales, management software, legal issues, insurance, marketing, media and industry trends.

“I cannot stress enough how important it is to have someone qualified to watch your home,” Pisani said. “I always have cases of people who come down to their homes down here and find it full of mold, and that’s something no homeowner wants.”

The conference will take place from Nov. 2-4 at the Holiday Inn Fort Myers Airport at Gulf Coast Town Center. The cost is $499 per person until Oct. 12 and $599 after that date.

“The event is for anyone who works in the housing market,” Pisani said. “It doesn’t matter if it’s a part-time job or if you’re a real estate agent, everyone should know how to properly take care of a home while they’re away.”
