Victim identified in Tuesday morning shooting

Lee Herald Favicon 16The Fort Myers Police Department has identified the body of a victim who was found shot to death in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Aaron Lumar, 27, of Cape Coral has been identified as the black male who was the victim of a fatal shooting near 2210 Cuba Street in Fort Myers. Lumar’s next of kin has been identified and the case is currently under investigation as a homicide.

A homicide investigation is underway after a man was found shot to death in the Dunbar area early Tuesday morning.

According to the Fort Myers Police Department, officers responded to reports of shots being fired at 2210 Cuba Street around 3:16 a.m. on Tuesday morning. A witness told the police that he had heard gunshots and found the body of an unidentified black male on the floor of a nearby unit.

Officers found the male gunshot victim, declaring him dead on the scene. The FMPD said that detectives and crime scene investigators have secured the area and begun collecting evidence. It is believed that the incident does not pose a danger to the public.
