A Lehigh Acres woman has been arrested on Wednesday after allegedly striking an infant so hard the child received a fractured skull.
According the the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at the Golisano Children’s Hospital on Monday, July 9 after being alerted that the staff had diagnosed a male baby with bruising to his face and a skull fracture.
Reporst say that after and investigation, detectives identified Yanelis Candelaria, 25, of Lehigh as a suspect and charged her with intentionally sticking the infant hard enough to fractured his skull. No additional details about Candelaria’s relationship to the child have been released.
Yanelis was arrested and charged with aggravated child abuse. She is scheduled to appear in court on August 13.
