The body of an unknown woman that was found in the Imperial River has been identified as the 42-year old Bonita Springs woman who has been missing since the night of July 4 according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.
On July 5, the LCSO issued a release stating that they had began the search for Maria Gomez, 42, of Bonita Springs, who had left her home at around 8 p.m. on July 4 but had never returned.
Reports say that on Saturday, July 7, a body of an unknown woman was found in the Imperial river. On Monday, the LCSO confirmed that the body had been identified as the woman who had done missing last week.
No indication was given as to the circumstances surrounding Gomez’s death, but LCSO said that the investigation was ongoing.
