Fort Myers wins $1 million on scratch-off

Lee Herald Favicon 16A Fort Myers man claimed his $1 million prize in Tallahassee on Tuesday after buying a winning scratch off ticket from a local gas station.

David Jones, 39, of Fort Myers traveled to Tallahassee on Tuesday to claim a $1 million prize won while playing the $5,000,000 GOLD RUSH DOUBLER Scratch-Off, according to a release from the Florida Lottery. Jones has chosen to take his winnings as a lump sum in the amount of $745,000.

The winning scratch off was purchased at the RaceTrac, located at 4440 Colonial Boulevard in Fort Myers, which will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling lucky ticket.

The $5,000,000 GOLD RUSH DOUBLER Scratch-Off is a $20 game which has a top prize of $5 million, with 30 $1 million winners.
