A 16 year-old Lee County Student was taken into custody Thursday after allegedly making threats to shoot up a high school on social media.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, on Thursday the school resource officer at East Lee County High School was notified about reports of a Snapchat communication that indicates the possible threat of a shooting at the school. The SRO was able to identify the suspect as a student there.
During an investigation, a number of witnesses came forward claiming to have seen the Snapchat message threatening the school.
Deputies arrested the 16 year-old suspect and charged him with intimidation write/send/threat to kill or injure. Naples Herald is not giving the name of the suspect due to their status as a minor by editorial policy.
