Cape Coral bank robbery causes school lockdown

Lee Herald Favicon 16Police are searching for an armed suspect who robbed a Fifth Third Bank in Cape Coral, causing a nearby school to undergo lockdown procedures as a precaution.

According to the Cape Coral Police Department, a white male entered the Fifth Third Bank located at 2724 Del Prado Boulevard South and displayed a firearm early Monday afternoon. Security footage shows what appears to be the suspect demanding money from the teller before leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured during the robbery.

CCPD received a call just after 1:00 p.m. and arrived quickly on scene. Major crimes, forensics, and aviation officers have all been deployed in the case.

Nearby Saint Andrews School was placed on lockdown as a precaution.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 5’6” and 200 pounds. He was wearing a blue cobra snake hat and an orange button up shirt with a white Hard Rock t-shirt underneath during the robbery. The suspect had firearm in what appeared to be a pouch or bag of some kind with a shoulder strap worn across his body.
