Crime Stoppers: Man suspected in S. Ft. Myers carjacking and armed robbery

Lee Herald Favicon 16An arrest has been made in connection to a carjacking and a convenience store robbery which happened Monday morning.

Collin Martin, 23, was arrested by Lee County Sheriff’s Deputies on Wednesday evening, Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers says in a news release.

According to the release, Martin was driving the vehicle and was spotted by deputies, allegedly leading officers on a high-speed chase that ended on Interstate 75 near Bonita Springs.

Martin faces 11 total charges, including grand theft auto, armed robbery, and fleeing from police. He is currently being held without bond at the Lee County Jail.


Police are searching for a man who they believe was responsible for a carjacking and a convenience start robbery early Monday morning in South Fort Myers.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, a white male wearing a bandana over his face approached two employees of the PDQ located at 12499 South Cleveland Avenue shortly after midnight as they were leaving.

The victim told deputies that the man demanded her car, pointing a gun at them, taking the victim’s gray Honda.

About an hour later, a man matching a similar description, and a similar vehicle to the one in the carjacking, robbed a 7-Eleven at the corner of Three Oaks Parkway and Estero Parkway in Estero, deputies say.

According to deputies and surveillance footage, the suspect is a white male between 5-foot-10 and 6 feet tall, and was wearing a gray hoodie and gray and white bandana.
