Man on Alligator Alley arrested with drugs, gun, stolen credit cards

Lee Herald Favicon 16A routine traffic stop along Alligator Alley in Collier County Thursday afternoon afternoon led to a multi-felony arrest along with the recovery of a firearm, drugs, and stolen credit cards.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at around 4:07 p.m. on March 8, troopers stopped a black Cadillac traveling westbound on Interstate 75 near mile marker 97 for an improper lane change and window tint that was too dark.

As troopers were processing the stop, reports allege that the driver, Derrell Marquis Allen, 23, of Fort Myers, tried to toss a marijuana blunt from his window. Troopers recovered 527 grams of marijuana, three stolen credit cards, a stolen Florida driver’s license, three forged money orders, five pre-paid cell phones, $2,260 in cash, and a loaded handgun.

Allen was arrested and booked at the Collier County Jail on several felony charges including carrying a concealed weapon, larceny, and marijuana distribution.
