A couple has been arrested after Lee County deputies after found a car loaded with drugs including marijuana-infused gummy bears Tuesday.
According to reports, a deputy was greeted by the couple after he approached a car with dark-tinted windows in a parking lot on San Carlos Boulevard just east of Main Street in Fort Myers Beach. The couple was asked to exit the vehicle after the deputy smelled raw marijuana. As the male, Salvatore Virzi, 20, stood up, the deputy realized that he had been sitting on a clear bag full of a leafy green plant determined to be marijuana.
WIth drugs in plain sight, the release says the car was searched further revealing 104 grams of marijuana, 36 grams of marijuana-infused gummy bear candies, and 45 THC liquid tanks, used in conjunction with electronic cigarettes. Deputies also found a handgun with a high capacity magazine and $3,800 in cash.
Virzi, who lives in Winter Haven, was arrested and charged with 25 counts of possession of a controlled substance and marijuana possession with intent to sell.
Kathleen Dudney, 21, who also lives in Winter Haven, was charged with drug possession.
