Team BBT…Cape Coral’s Taekwondo Kids…Score Big at ATU Nationals, Daedo Truescore Nationals

Lee Herald Favicon 16Team BBT…the kids whose lunch money you don’t want to try to take…sprinted around the state over the Memorial Day weekend so as to compete in both the ATU Nationals and the Daedo Truescore Taekwondo Nationals.

Like pirates of days gone by, Team BBT regularly leaves tournaments with a vast collection of precious metal; this weekend was no exception.

The weekend’s booty included seven gold medals, one silver medal and two bronze medals.

Additionally, Team BBT member, Tristan Mulligan, earned a spot on the Daedo Truescore National Team and will be competing in Costa Rica later in the year.

Taekwondo, a Korean martial art, is a conglomerate of Karate, Taekkyeon, Subak, and Gwonbeop. The art form requires a remarkable merger of balance, flexibility, endurance and strength as head-level kicks, back kicks, hook kicks, etc. require a delicate marriage of equilibrium and power.

Team BBT dedicates an excessive amount of time to both developing their skillsets and to tournament travel. Coached and mentored by a past Olympic competitor, Master Jermaine James, the team has earned well over 100 medals in just the last three years. The Memorial Day weekend’s results are as follows:

Tristin Mulligan:
Daedo Truescore Team Member
Daedo Truescore National Champion
ATU National Silver Medalist

So’mora Knight:
Daedo Truescore National Champion
ATU National Champion

Brianna Leonard:
Daedo Truescore National Bronze Medalist
ATU National Bronze Medalist

Samantha Drivick:
ATU National Champion

Ashlee Rowzer:

Charlize Joseph:

Nick Knight:

Congratulations to the entire team!
