A suspect is in custody after Lee County deputies tracked down the man in the car he used to flee the scene of a gas station robbery in Bonita Springs.
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, at around 8:15 a.m. Sunday morning, deputies received reports of a silent alarm activation from the Racetrack gas station located at 10801 Furlong Road in Bonita Springs. The store clerk told deputies that the store had been robbed by a white male in a hooded sweatshirt who entered the store and threatened to shoot everyone in it if he was not given money.
After receiving an undisclosed amount of cash from the register, the suspect fled the store in a white Cadillac, but witnesses were able to provide deputies with the licence plate number of the getaway vehicle.
After searching the area of Elaine Drive and Terry Street in Bonita Springs, deputies found the Cadillac, which caused the suspect to flee on foot into a home at 27079 Elaine Drive.
Eventually 26 year-old Corey Williams left the h9ome and was arrested on charges of robbery and booked at the Lee County Jail.
