A Fort Myers woman was killed and her passenger seriously injured after colliding with a Lee County school bus in Estero Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 23 year-old Taylor Brooke Lee was traveling north in a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta on Corkscrew Woodlands Boulevard, approaching the Corkscrew Road intersection in the left turn lane just after 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. A Lee County school bus was traveling east on Corkscrew Road in the right lane, and according to reports, Lee failed to yield at the intersection and pulled into the path of the bus.
The front of the bus struck the left side of the Jetta, pushing both vehicles into the median.
Lee was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 4:50 p.m. Her passenger, 22 year-old Brittany Marie Diaz was also transported to Lee Memorial for the treatment of serious injuries.
Amanda Leigh Timte, 27, the driver of the school bus was transported to Gulf Coast Medical Center where she was treated for serious injuries. No students were on the bus at the time of the collision.
The report states that the crash was not alcohol related and that the investigation is still ongoing.
