The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has released the identity of the shooter and victim in an apparent murder-suicide that took place at a Denny’s in South Fort Myers last week.
According to Undersheriff Carmine Marceno, on April 11 at around 9:30 a.m., deputies responded to the Denny’s located at 8031 Summerlin Center Drive in South Fort Myers. The deputies arrived to find a man who had shot a woman and then turned the gun on himself.
“The females subject is deceased from her injuries, the male subject was transported by EMS to a local area hospital,” said Marceno in a video statement on the case.
The shooter would eventually die from his self-inflicted wounds.
The female victim has been identified as 52 year-old Ada Kajtazi. The male shooter has been identified as 83 year-old Ronald Huffman. The next of kin for both have been identified.
No possible motives for the shooting have been given. LCSO said that the investigation remains active.
