FMPD: Two wounded in possible drive-by

Lee Herald Favicon 16A Fort Myers couple has been left  wounded after a possible drive-by shooting took place early Tuesday morning.

According to the Fort Myers Police Department, officers responded to 3761 Belmont Street around 4:00 a.m. after receiving reports of gunshots being fired in the area of Polk and Belmont streets. A male and female victim were found, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Zarifer King, 39, and James Benjamin, 19, were both taken to Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Detectives are actively investigating what they believe might be a drive-by shooting. There is believed to be no threat to the general public at this time.
