The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is conducting what it calls a homicide investigation at an east Fort Myers home on Monday where two people were found dead.
In a Monday afternoon press conference in front of the home on Maine Avenue in Morse Shores, Undersheriff Carmine Marceno said that the investigation is “very active and open.” Deputies upgraded the death investigation to a homicide, with two deaths and a third who was transported to a local hospital.
“Our detectives are working around the clock, nonstop, with the information we’ve received to make sure that justice will be served,” Marceno said. “I can assure you that we are very confident that in this case, we will have an arrest.”
Deputies have not released the names of the victims, as their next of kin had not yet been notified, Marceno said. Marceno did not take questions, citing the state of the investigation, and says that believe the incident is isolated and there is no threat to the community.
“We will do everything in our power to make sure justice is served here,” Marceno said.
