The Fort Myers Police Department have confirmed the arrest of the suspect believed to be responsible for the Tuesday morning shooting that occurred near Braman Avenue and US 41.
According to the FMPD, officers arrived at the scene and discovered the victim of a shooting. That victim was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital with injuries determined to be non-life-threatening.
Gaining access to video surveillance from the apartment complex, which captured images of the suspect and his vehicle, the Fort Myers Police began scouring the area for the suspect.
Officers and detectives from the Gang Suppression Unit, Patrol Division and the U.S. Marshal Task Force searched the apartment complex at 1915 Braman Avenue and located the subject of the search.
With a sworn statement from the victim, FMPD apprehended Javon Antoine McClures (DOB 11/15/1977) and charged him with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Firing a Weapon on Residential Property, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Cocaine Possession, Resisting without Violence, Marijuana Possession, Aggravated Battery, Battery
McClures has 38 prior arrests in Lee County alone. He has a felonious history in Sarasota County, as well.
The Fort Myers Police responded to a shooting that occurred, on Tuesday morning, on Braman Avenue in Fort Myers.
While little is known at this time, the Fort Myers PD has reported that the victim of the shooting was struck in the ankle by “a known perpetrator.”
According to Lieutenant Jay Rodriguez of the FMPD, the shooter is not yet in custody.
